New in Meribel for 2017/2018

On the piste

Meribel has again been working hard to improve it’s ski area for this coming season. No sooner did the lifts close on last season when work began on some big projects to make sure that they will be ready for the 2017/18 season.

New Roc de Tougne Chairlift

The old double drag lift, loved by expert skiers looking for quiet slopes but hated by everyone else, has been replaced by a new, fast loading, 6 seater chairlift. This will make a big difference to how people move around the valleys. Tougnette 2 will no longer be the only main route to St Martin de Belleville, Les Menuires and Val Thorens, The Roc de Tougne chairlift will give red run skiers a fast route with more interesting skiing than the current road run. Also the Bartavelle and Lagopede pistes, some of the best and most reliable for good snow in the area, will be much more accessible.

Lac de La Chambre, piste reshaping

Opening up the 3 Valleys to blue run skiers has been a focus of the lift operators for many years. The route back to Meribel and Courchevel from Val Thorens has generally been via the Lac de La Chambre red run, this piste has now been reshaped and re-graded to a blue piste.

Rond Point Magic Carpet

The area at the Rond Point has a new beginner, covered Magic Carpet and a new “Easy Rider” slope giving a much needed extra beginner practise area for Meribel.

These and other new features including greater snowmaking capacity mean that Meribel is moving on and improving its facilities again this winter.
